Peter Chambers

In Belgrade for the first World Cup of the 2012 season, Peter raced in the lightweight men's four with , Rob Williams, Richard Chambers and Chris Bartley. In an exciting final, the crew won a silver medal with Denmark taking the gold and China the bronze.

At the 2012 GB Rowing Team Senior Trials held on 10/11 March at Eton/Dorney, Peter was 2nd in the lightweight men's single scull.

During the 2011 season, Peter raced in the lightweight men's pair with crewmate Kieren Emery. The duo beat New Zealand by over 4 seconds to win a comfortable gold at the World Rowing U23 Championships in Amsterdam. At the World Rowing Championships in Bled, Slovenia, the duo maintained their winning streak, once again winning the gold.

In Munich at the first World Cup of 2011 Peter and crewmate Kieren Emery in the lightweight men's pair (GBR Boat 2) won an excellent silver medal. In Lucerne, Peter moved into the lightweight men's four with his brother Richard Chambers and crewmates Paul Mattick and Rob Williams. The crew won an impressive gold medal ahead of Italy and Denmark.

At the 2011 GB Rowing Team Senior Trials held at Eton/Dorney on 16/17 April, Peter took 6th place in the lightweight men's single scull.

At the 2010 World Rowing Championships on New Zealand's Lake Karapiro, Peter was placed 6th in the final of the lightweight men's single scull.

Earlier in the season, Peter raced in the lightweight men's single at the 2010 World Rowing U23 Championships in Brest, Belarus where he won a silver medal. He won his heat and semi-final and had a superb race in the final against the 2009 World U23 Champion from Iran, taking 2nd place just under a length behind 1st.  He also raced this year in the World Cup Series, at Bled taking 12th place in the lightweight men's double scull and in Munich where he came 6th in the lightweight men's single.

He took up rowing at Bann Rowing Club in Coleraine at just 13 years old under the guidance of Seamus Reynolds.  Peter is the younger brother of GB rower and Olympian Richard Chambers.

Peter raced in the lightweight quad at the 2009 World U23 Championships, where he won bronze.  An encouraging result from a crew who were all racing at their first Under 23s.

In his spare time he enjoys all sports.  He is currently studying Sports Science at Oxford Brookes University.
